So why should I read “Jacked Up?”
Jack has an – ah – unique background and life:
- Born into a military screwed up (excuse me, dysfunctional) family
- Began drinking at 12, moved out at 14
- Arrested twice as a teen, then, as now – slapped on wrist
- Four years Army (2 years Korea, 2 months Germany, rest in Vietnam)
- Began using other drugs while in military (not because of military)
- Worked in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands after honorable discharge
- Began working with a group selling drugs etc
- Arrested 1973
- Converted to stumbling follower of the Lord Jesus Christ while in jail
- Confined to Oregon State Penitentiary
- Paroled in 1977
- Attended now non-existent Bible Institute
- Serving in Christian Youth/Prison/Camp/Church ministry since 1978
- Author of Captured by Grace
- Diagnosed with multiple myeloma June 2023
