Thoughts about Thinking

Hit a light switch this afternoon and for some reason thought about how “for granted” I take both the light and electricity.

Hopped down that thought. Here’s a sampling:

  • We average ten to twenty blinks per minute. When is the last time you thought about blinking?
  • The heart beats somewhere between 60 to 100 times per minute. Have you thought about your heartbeat?
  • I flush the toilet and waste disappears…have I thought about where it goes?
  • That light I switched on almost always turns on. Do I ever think about the light or electricity

There is nothing wrong with not thinking about such things.

But God’s grace pours on me moment by moment. Have I given that thought?

Jesus intercedes for me. When is the last time I gave that consideration?

Every person I saw today is a creation of God, and is enroute to either heaven or hell. Have I dwelled on those facts recently?

Thoughts are important.

Do I have the courage to pray Psalm 26.2? “Examine me, O Lord, and test me. Evaluate my inner thoughts and motives.”

Do I regularly pray Psalm 19.14? “May my words and my thoughts be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my sheltering rock and my redeemer.”

Just something to think about.
