I use the phrase fairly often in preaching/teaching. Teens, for the most part, kinda tilt their heads. Adults often glare. I think some begin looking for tar and feathers.
The phrase? “Sin is fun.”
Gasp! How can I say that?
Because it is true.
The Word of God states, ” (Moses chose) rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.” [ESV]
Don’t like the ESV?
How about ” pleasures of sin” [NIV] [NLT] [LSB] [KJV] [NASB] [NET]
Of course the modifier “fleeting,” “for a season,” ‘temporary,‘ or my favorite “…rather than to enjoy the short-lived pleasure of sin.‘ [HCSB] puts the proper perspective on the enjoyment.
But sin IS fun.
If it was not, you wouldn’t struggle with temptation to sin.
Oh, you don’t struggle?
Then you are one of two things:
- dead
- unsaved
